DJI Osmo 360 II Goes on Sale in China With 8K/60p and Replaceable Lenses

DJI’s Osmo 360 II is now on sale in China with 8K/60p and replaceable lenses, but US pricing, availability and repair details remain unknown for now.

DJI’s Osmo 360 II went on sale in China on August 13, bringing the rumored camera’s headline upgrade into the open: 8K video at 60fps and user-replaceable lenses. Imaging Resource reported the launch and specifications, but the more consequential change for anyone carrying a 360 camera on rides or trips is the glass. A damaged lens could become a parts-and-service problem instead of a camera replacement—if DJI makes the process and parts accessible.

The launch closes the hardware rumor arc. It doesn’t answer the question US buyers need answered: DJI has announced no US price, release date, storefront listing, warranty coverage or repair program for the Osmo 360 II. A China-market import may be possible, but it should be treated as unsupported until DJI says otherwise.

Replaceable glass changes the ownership calculation

The Osmo 360’s exposed lenses take the risk out of a normal action-camera purchase and put it directly on the camera. A scratch or impact can affect every angle captured by the two lenses, including footage that gets reframed later. Reporting on the first-generation model identified its fixed lenses as a major practical limitation; the II’s user-replaceable design attacks that limitation more directly than another incremental resolution bump.

The details that determine whether this is genuinely useful remain unknown. The launch coverage does not establish whether swapping a lens requires special tools, how the waterproof seal is restored, whether calibration is needed, what a replacement kit costs or how the work affects the warranty. DJI’s existing China service information lists lens-replacement prices for the original Osmo 360, but that does not confirm a self-service procedure or pricing for the II.

DJI has reportedly claimed that an ion-sputtered lens coating survived 2,000 steel-wool rubs in laboratory testing without affecting image quality. That is a manufacturer-reported lab claim, not evidence of resistance to a drop onto gravel, sand worked into a ride bag or a direct impact. Replaceability still matters because exposed glass eventually meets something worse than a test material.

8K/60p is real; the visible payoff is still unproven

The Osmo 360 II records native 8K/60p panoramic video at 7,680 × 3,840 pixels, up from the original camera’s reported 8K/50p ceiling. It also records 6K panoramic video at up to 60p, 4K single-lens video at up to 60p, Boost Video at up to 4K/120p and panoramic slow motion at up to 4K/240p.

Those modes give fast-moving footage more frame-rate headroom, but the supplied launch coverage contains no controlled test footage or measurements showing that 8K/60p delivers better detail, stitching, low-light footage, stabilization or sustained endurance than the original. The specification is confirmed; the workflow and image-quality advantage is not.

The camera’s other headline imaging claims include HDR panoramic stills up to 120 megapixels, RAW photography and dual 1/1.1-inch-equivalent imaging areas with f/1.9 apertures, 2.4μm pixels and an ISO range of 100–51,200. DJI reports up to 14.5 stops of dynamic range, with D-Log M rated at 13.5 stops. Those numbers describe potential, not independent evidence of clean low-light footage or a lighter post-production burden.

The practical package is familiar, with useful built-in storage

Launch coverage reports 128GB of internal storage, with about 105GB usable, alongside microSD support up to 1TB. That usable internal space could make a meaningful difference on a trip when a card fills or a phone offload is inconvenient, though the reporting does not establish transfer speeds or the app experience.

The battery is rated at 2,150mAh, and DJI claims up to 100 minutes of continuous 8K/30p recording under specified laboratory conditions. DJI also claims 80% charging in 22 minutes with a 30W-or-higher USB charger. Those figures don’t establish runtime at 8K/60p, in cold weather or with stabilization and other processing enabled, so spare-battery planning still depends on testing.

China pricing is clear; US buying is not

The standard package is reported at ¥3,299 in mainland China. Hong Kong pricing is listed separately at HK$3,899 for the standard model and HK$4,699 for the Adventure Combo; those are different markets, not conflicting US-equivalent prices.

Imaging Resource and NEW CAMERA describe the rollout as limited to China for now. An FCC authorization reportedly exists for the camera, but regulatory approval does not establish a US retail launch, MSRP, shipping date, warranty commitment or supply of replacement lenses. The supplied reporting also does not settle whether a China unit would have region-specific firmware, activation, language, app or feature restrictions.

That leaves US buyers with no confirmed supported path to purchase or repair. Gray-market importers may eventually offer China units, but the reporting does not establish US warranty coverage, replacement-part availability or DJI’s willingness to service them. For a camera whose most appealing upgrade depends on accessible lens repair, that uncertainty matters more than the launch price.
