DJI’s Osmo 360 II went on sale in China on August 13, bringing the rumored camera’s headline upgrade into the open: 8K video at 60fps and user-replaceable lenses. Imaging Resource reported the launch and specifications, but the more consequential change for anyone carrying a 360 camera on rides or trips is the glass. A damaged lens could become a parts-and-service problem instead of a camera replacement—if DJI makes the process and parts accessible.

The launch closes the hardware rumor arc. It doesn’t answer the question US buyers need answered: DJI has announced no US price, release date, storefront listing, warranty coverage or repair program for the Osmo 360 II. A China-market import may be possible, but it should be treated as unsupported until DJI says otherwise.

Replaceable glass changes the ownership calculation

The Osmo 360’s exposed lenses take the risk out of a normal action-camera purchase and put it directly on the camera. A scratch or impact can affect every angle captured by the two lenses, including footage that gets reframed later. Reporting on the first-generation model identified its fixed lenses as a major practical limitation; the II’s user-replaceable design attacks that limitation more directly than another incremental resolution bump.

The details that determine whether this is genuinely useful remain unknown. The launch coverage does not establish whether swapping a lens requires special tools, how the waterproof seal is restored, whether calibration is needed, what a replacement kit costs or how the work affects the warranty. DJI’s existing China service information lists lens-replacement prices for the original Osmo 360, but that does not confirm a self-service procedure or pricing for the II.

DJI has reportedly claimed that an ion-sputtered lens coating survived 2,000 steel-wool rubs in laboratory testing without affecting image quality. That is a manufacturer-reported lab claim, not evidence of resistance to a drop onto gravel, sand worked into a ride bag or a direct impact. Replaceability still matters because exposed glass eventually meets something worse than a test material.

8K/60p is real; the visible payoff is still unproven

The Osmo 360 II records native 8K/60p panoramic video at 7,680 × 3,840 pixels, up from the original camera’s reported 8K/50p ceiling. It also records 6K panoramic video at up to 60p, 4K single-lens video at up to 60p, Boost Video at up to 4K/120p and panoramic slow motion at up to 4K/240p.

Those modes give fast-moving footage more frame-rate headroom, but the supplied launch coverage contains no controlled test footage or measurements showing that 8K/60p delivers better detail, stitching, low-light footage, stabilization or sustained endurance than the original. The specification is confirmed; the workflow and image-quality advantage is not.

The camera’s other headline imaging claims include HDR panoramic stills up to 120 megapixels, RAW photography and dual 1/1.1-inch-equivalent imaging areas with f/1.9 apertures, 2.4μm pixels and an ISO range of 100–51,200. DJI reports up to 14.5 stops of dynamic range, with D-Log M rated at 13.5 stops. Those numbers describe potential, not independent evidence of clean low-light footage or a lighter post-production burden.

The practical package is familiar, with useful built-in storage

Launch coverage reports 128GB of internal storage, with about 105GB usable, alongside microSD support up to 1TB. That usable internal space could make a meaningful difference on a trip when a card fills or a phone offload is inconvenient, though the reporting does not establish transfer speeds or the app experience.

The battery is rated at 2,150mAh, and DJI claims up to 100 minutes of continuous 8K/30p recording under specified laboratory conditions. DJI also claims 80% charging in 22 minutes with a 30W-or-higher USB charger. Those figures don’t establish runtime at 8K/60p, in cold weather or with stabilization and other processing enabled, so spare-battery planning still depends on testing.

China pricing is clear; US buying is not

Imaging Resource and NEW CAMERA describe the rollout as limited to China for now. An FCC authorization reportedly exists for the camera, but regulatory approval does not establish a US retail launch, MSRP, shipping date, warranty commitment or supply of replacement lenses. DJI’s Mic Mini 2S turns the company’s smallest wireless mic system into a more practical safety net for run-and-gun video. PetaPixel reports that each transmitter can now record 32-bit-float audio internally, while the receiver supports up to four transmitters; the system has launched in most global regions, but DJI has not announced US pricing or availability.

The internal file is the meaningful change for solo filming. It can preserve a take after a wireless dropout or a camera input set too hot—problems that a compact receiver cannot fix after the fact. Four microphones are useful for a roundtable or small interview, but they add little to a hike, ride, or trip filmed by one person.

The backup recording changes the risk calculation

Each transmitter is reported to have about 14.5GB of storage and up to 28 hours of onboard recording in 24-bit mode. That figure applies per transmitter and should not be read as 28 hours of 32-bit-float capacity. The supplied reporting does not establish the official 32-bit-float duration; Engadget estimated roughly 21 to 22 hours per transmitter.

Engadget’s hands-on test demonstrates why the feature matters more than the headline number. The process still adds a file-management step, but that is a smaller workflow tax than losing spoken audio from a finished take.

The transmitters also support loop recording, which overwrites the oldest audio when storage fills. That makes the feature useful for longer sessions, but it also means creators need to understand the recording mode before treating the transmitter as a permanent archive.

Four transmitters are for groups, with routing questions attached

The Mic Mini 2S receiver can pair with up to four transmitters and one receiver, compared with two transmitters on the preceding Mic Mini 2. DJI’s compact system can therefore cover a small group without adding another receiver to the camera rig.

For a solo shooter, that capacity is mostly spare headroom. It becomes relevant for interviews, podcasts, roundtable discussions, or family and travel footage with several people speaking. Engadget’s reporting also points to the practical complication: anyone who wants isolated tracks from four microphones should record internally on each transmitter.

Those numbers are slightly below the reported Mic Mini 2 comparison figures of about 11.5 hours per transmitter and 48 hours for its case, so the 2S’s recording upgrade does not come with a clear endurance gain. The transmitter weighs approximately 12 grams, and it remains incompatible with DJI’s optional wired lavalier capsule.

Price is clear outside the US; the buying case is narrower than the lineup

RedShark News reports a two-transmitter camera kit at €189, £169, or C$265 before tax. The single-transmitter kit is reported at €99 or £79, with a Canadian price of C$149. DJI has not announced official US pricing or availability, and no DJI product page, newsroom announcement, manual, or direct US purchase page was supplied for this report.

That reported two-transmitter price puts the Mic Mini 2S roughly €10 above the original Mic Mini 2 in markets where both are sold, according to Engadget’s comparison. For original Mic Mini owners, internal backup recording and four-transmitter support are concrete upgrades if either solves a real problem.
